In case you needed more proof I read to much Redwall, the Epitaphs for everyone who died in Mariel of Redwall
Bloodrig, Captain of Gabool
Though Evil was your call
You shouldn't have been slain by treachery
Killed by Gabool in his hall
You died without a chance to flee
~Michael Kane
Saltar, Brother of Bloodrig
The Brother Came for revenge
Though there was no love lost,
The loss you had to avenge
This fight was to your eternal cost
~Michael Kane
Mariel
Captured by the wild
Attacking him one night
Pushed out the window o' pitiful child
Later to be resurrected by Redwall's light
~Michael Kane
Storm Gullwhacker
Born of the sea
Slain by the future abbot
His poem set your mind free
Ameisa hopefully won't become a habit
~Michael Kane
The Crew of the Waveblade
In search of the Traitor
You now wait at Hellgates
Slain by the vermin hater
For this was Widestripe's fate
~Michael Kane
Greypatch
Covering your own tail,
you Split from the Wild
Now your body is pale
The pike thought you quite mild
~Michael Kane
Gabool the Wild
It started with a mousemaid,
When you played one final trick
For cruelty was your trade,
you felt the scorpion's prick
~Michael Kane
Srablag the Scorpion
Captured by Gabool and Greypatch
The Unwitting pawn,
The sword of Martin wasn't a fair match
Dandin's skill defeated your brawn
~Michael Kane
Flogger, Captain of the Rathelm
Mistaken for the double dealer
Trapped by your greed,
Slain by the poison feeler
You became scorpion feed,
~Michael Kane
Bigfang
Slain by the Oneeye
Traitor to the Mutineer
To Slay him in combat you tried,
Then the end came with a spear
~Michael Kane
Cornell Clarie & Brigadier Thyme
Rescuing the slaves you died
Battling to the end
Though now with vermin you lie
How much blood you caused them to spend
~Michael Kane
Greypatch's Crew
One hundred followed the mutineer,
And tried to capture Redwall
Mossflower Woods you came to fear,
Then to Hellgates you came to call
~Michael Kane
The Warriors of TRAG
Though your losses were few,
At least you died free
Your hearts were true
Oh dear warriors we will miss ye
~Michael Kane
It's not Paranoia if their really out to get you
you seem to be a master of abab rhyme patterns. it's always been very difficult for me to write that way. i tend to lean more towards aa bb cc....
ps...does anybody survive in redwall?
don't tell me, i really am going to read them
I agree with Niles. I now have to read Redwall. Perhaps we could do a book discussion at a future program....Or have a Redwall party.
Great lyrical sound...I can hear the movement as I read it.
My favorite set is:
The Brother Came for revenge
Though there was no love lost,
The loss you had to avenge
This fight was to your eternal cost
Maybe it's cuz I have brothers (insert smile emoticon here)
Yes people survive in redwall but....
