It is my considered opinion that a Haiku is not a form of poetry but a writing exercise however here's some of the less embarrassing stuff I came up with in 30 minutes
I came up with 45 just for the curious
ETC
Our Library Group,
Is Far to cool to believe
We're so Awesome
The Statue of Liberty
Oh Lady Liberty
On your stone perch you stand,
Oh green skinned one
Nova Starburst (my first D&D Character)
Lord Nova Starburst
Purple robed wizard prince
King, Liberator, Mage
Written in Molespeech
Burr oi gurt burd bag
Turnup an tater an beetroot
Boi'Oikey gurt Foremole
Spiderman
Spiderman is cool
Way cooler than weird Niles
or even Mary Jean
Really Bad
This Haiku is bad
because it has no subject
But it's funny
The Little Twit
The tiny little twit
was lacking a rapier wit
So he's eating grit
Juggling
Juggling is hard
Juggling is Impossible
The balls hit the floor
Redwall
Redwall is my home
The abbey and the gatehouse
even the little pond
Cheese
Cheese is good food
Whether red, white, or yellow
Warm, nice, and melty
haikus are too poetry, for instance, here is my favorite haiku of all time; it was written by a poet who called herself mother soul and used it to win a poetry slam:
he say, "poetry
is only to be written"
until i kissed him
in long poems there are extremely powerful lines or phrases or images, whereas haikus (at their best) are those extremely powerful lines or phrases or images.
and also, your haiku "juggling" is a masterpiece. i'm still laughing about it from yesterday.
Here's my Haiku Tupac
Tupac 2 me
lyrics touch and play deeply
articulated
ok, ok I take your point niles however unless you are good at them which I'm apparently not they should be regulated to a writing exercise
